Day 1: Kota Kinabalu – Kiulu Farmstay
Pick up from hotel and drive approximately 45 minutes to countryside with a quick stop at Tamparuli Suspension Bridge and the nearby local market, passing the scenic view of the Kiulu Valley.
Upon arrival at the Fig Tree in Kampung Mantob, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and briefed on the program of the day by our local guide.
Thereafter, try your hand at some cultural activities such as traditional rice processing, blow pipe, rice planting and rubber tapping before lunch. After enjoying your scrumptious traditional lunch, proceed for a leisure village walk which would offer you stunning landscapes of the scenic valley as you pass through a local school, lush paddy fields, and a hanging bridge before returning back to The Fig Tree.
If time and weather permits, take a dip in the sensationally cooling Kiulu River. After dinner, have a good chat with the local people about the village history and folktales before retiring to bed. Overnight at the Fig Tree.

Day 2: Kiulu Farmstay
After breakfast, head to a primary school for a quick tour around the school’s premise. Thereafter, get energized with a jungle trek and experience picking local produce the local way. Make your way to the home of a villager to get your fill of delicious home-cooked lunch before participating in some handicraft making activities and traditional games. If weather permits, take a refreshing dip in the river to beat the heat and thereafter, it will be at leisure. After dinner, spend some time with the locals. Overnight at Fig Tree.

Day 3: Kiulu – Transfer out
Enjoy breakfast before departing back to Kota Kinabalu.

If you’re keen for more adventure and cultural experience, there are many optional activities for you to try such as quad biking and cultural activities. So be sure to ask your host!
Kiulu school gift
For the school visit activity, guests can buy gifts such as stationary to be donated to the school. The school is accessible from Monday-Friday when normal classes are being conducted. However, note that it will not be open for visitation during exam season.
Things to Bring
Please bring along sun block lotion, insect repellent, hat, walking / trekking shoes, sandal, drinking water bottle, swimming attire and towel.
